"GONE COUNTRY"
ALAN JACKSON
I had never heard this song, but I have recently been listening to more and more of Alan Jackson's music. I enjoy the stories that are included in the older country songs, while new country songs often do not capture this. I like the background music specifically in this piece. The song starts out with a simple guitar chord progression, then drums and other string instruments are added. I like that it starts out so simple, then things are added in as the song goes on and on. The guitar stays relatively the same throughout the piece and I like that it is one thing that stays the same.
I also like that his voice matches this underlying chord progression perfectly. He sings about 'going country' and how it can change someones life. It starts out by talking about a girl, then the second verse is about a boy, buying boots and moving towns. I like the 'small town feel' that this song almost gives off, and how relatable it can feel. I think this song was most likely written for an adult or young adult audience as it talks about moving out and making our own decisions. I can see why this song went so popular as it is very relatable and a nice song for some easy listening.
Great job! I decided to listen to this song this week as well. Even though I do enjoy a lot of modern country, country from this era is really good too. I also love the simplicity of this song, both the sound and the lyrics. I really love the line "back to her roots." I think that when life gets complicated, sometimes is good to get back to our roots and focus on what matters most to us.
ReplyDeleteI love rhythm and the lyrics to this song. Gives me good energy and can definitely feel the videos to this song.
